anto
Please add warning window when i try to open file created in v 2.1. 2.2 is not compatible with 1.10 as well as with 2.0, 2.1. So why is there no notification for 2.1? I think this is a big problem. Especially since if you have the beta version installed, all the icons show it and all the files open in beta. Otherwise, you will lose all your work. The loss of access to the file has already been reported on the forum.
walt.farrell
Yes, it looks like that's broken, but I seem to recall seeing it in earlier beta releases Opening a 1.10 document: Opening a 2.1.1 document there's no warning: Recording 2023-08-07 065623.mp4 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. walt.farrell
I wonder if this is in some way related to the incident the other day where 2.1.1 wanted to upgrade to the 2.2.0 beta release? MikeTO
On macOS, the 2.2 beta displays the warning when opening a 1.10 document but not when opening a 2.0 or 2.1 document. Staff EmT Posted August 9, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2023 Hi @anto Thanks for your feedback, it is currently expected behaviour for a warning message not to show when opening a v2 document, but it may be something that is changed in the future. When signing up to the Beta Program there is a warning regarding using the beta versions for production work (see quote and link below). Quote Please also consider that documents saved in the beta versions may not be backward compatible with the currently released version. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/affinity-beta-program/ Quote List of V2 FAQ's | Beta Software Forums | Affinity Photo (V2) Tutorials | Affinity Designer (V2) Tutorials | Affinity Publisher (V2) Tutorials

Therefore, it is very easy to make a mistake in which version a file was opened.

This will be due to which app is set as the default app to open that specific file on your OS, this can be changed easily enough.
