Improve readability of helpfiles

Recommended Posts

Light grey font on white background with miniscule font size and the least amount of spacing between letters possible... I think if you made a checklist of all the worst things about a font choice, the Affinity 2 help files' body text would get 100% of them. Unless there's a way I'm missing to customize this for myself, I think we need a design-oriented QA person to re-assess these help files. They are totally unreadable.

I've attached a screenshot. In order to read this I will have to zoom in 200% and it's still an eye strain hazard.

When I look at the built-in application Help I see this:

When I look at the online Help on Windows via Chrome or Firefox I see this:

All very readable either way.

This suggests that the problem is with your machine/set-up.

If you can tell us exactly how you are accessing the Help then we can see if we can replicate the problem and possibly suggest a way to make things better for you.

Hey there, it looks like the issue is indeed on my end. I should have figured that since the help files didn't used to look like this in 1.0. 😅 If you want to close this you can, or I will post an update when I figure out what is broken and fix it. I have installed some fonts recently so I suspect that might be related. Sorry for jumping to conclusions!

Yes, it turns out that for some reason Windows decided to make "Helvetica Neue Ultralight" my display font for certain use-cases. I'm guessing when I uninstall this font it will fix the issue. No idea why this happened but not an Affinity problem!
