chasser18
Hey all, I'm trying to change the color of a vector image using the recolour adjustments such as in this tutorial video ( ) but it's causing the image to rasterize upon export. Is there any way to recolour an entire image such as in the video and still export a vector pdf? Thanks, Chas
Immary
I also have the same problem and posting this to support the above question. Hope someone can help. :)
Staff MEB Posted March 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted March 30, 2016 Hi chasser18 and Immary, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No. All adjustements and FX Effects will be rasterised on export. Immary
MEB, thanks for your prompt reply. Is this something permanent (due to mathematical/coding limitation) or something that will be improved in the future?
Staff MEB Posted March 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted March 30, 2016 It's unlikely that there's changes here anytime soon because most formats don't have native support for those features. So unless PDF specs are updated/changed, there's isn't much we can do to avoid rasterising the output. Maybe with SVG this becomes possible later but it will take considerable time until we and the spec get there. anon1
But what sense does this make in conjunction with the recolor/ HSL Shift adjustment? I mean PDF supports color and AD could just replace the originally created color by the shifted color?? That refers to pretty much all color adjustments I can think of? Maybe a bit harder on Curves that modify gradients but apart from that....?
Staff MEB Posted March 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted March 30, 2016 I believe the OP is referring to change them globally keeping the adjustment independent from the vector data. SVG already offers effects/filters which avoids rasterising vector data, keeping the files small. anon1
So you're saying that a vector graphic with a recolour adjustment exports as a vector to SVG? I've tried PDF and it seemed to have rasterised the recoloured vector which I find strange.
Staff MEB Posted March 30, 2016 Staff Share Posted March 30, 2016 No. I'm saying that the SVG spec support this type of features (filters). Currently Affinity Photo/Designer rasterise all adjustements/effects/filters no matter the file type you export.
