Hello, I often use PDFs and AFDESIGN files as resources in a bigger AFPUB file. My different assets are assigned to either different pages or different artboards in the PDF or AFDESIGN file respectively. I noticed though that sometimes when I open my AFPUB file, the resource resets to either page 1 for PDF resources, or the entire document for AFDESIGN resources. At some point I just split the files into separate afdesign files which defeats the purpose and workflow for using artboards. Using artboards really helps me see all my assets and make consistent changes when needed.

Is this a bug or an intended feature? Can it be fixed so that the afpub file remembers the page/artboard the resource is set to?

I don't know if this adds extra complexity but my files are on the cloud in google drive. Sometimes the pdfs/artboards don't reset while other times they do and I'm thinking if the cloud has something to do with it.

Thank you :)

Yes, having them in the Cloud introduces complications.

For example, it's possible that the absolute path to the files appears to be changing, which might lead to the files showing as Missing and a prompt to locate or replace them. Or, it's possible that the application will think the files have been updated, and either prompt you to update them or will update them automatically (depending on your application Settings).

Are you seeing any signs of either of those scenarios occurring? There would be messages in either case, when you Open the file.

Hi, no I don't see any messages. The file opens as normal but the resources are back to the either page 1 or the whole document instead of artboards. I've tried using the "available offline" option so that there is a local copy but the problem still seems to happen.

This is a bug.
I have a similar workflow.
With Designer I have several elements (drawings, illustrations) in different artboards. I place it in Publisher (that is set to PREFER LINKED), that way I can edit the .afdesign (that already has a fixed number of artboards, let's assume 15.). Everything works perfectly until at some point, when opening the publisher .afpub file, everything resets to Artboard1 (or any artboard positioned at the base of the .afdesign layer stack, regardless of the name).

The .afpub and .afdesign are in the same folder. no cloud here

It seems that the bug happens when I change something in the .afdesign (even though I'm not creating or deleting artboards). Just by changing the file, changing colors, drawing something different and saving. When opening the .afpub file at some point, everything resets to "Artboard1". A lot of work to set the correct artboards again.....😵‍💫

I can guarantee that it's a bug because I've used this workflow several times, at least with version 1.X and that never happened. Now this is the first time I work this way with version 2.x.

Yes, unfortunately it is bugged 🐞 😔
