i have used Page plus for years but recently decided it was time to update to the new package. I produce a newsletter for a charity i am involved with. I am finding it hard and have worked through quite a number of the you tube activities. I am stumped today as I start to produce the cover of my newsletter. I cannot seem to find any fonts! The font manager only shows Ariel. Where do I find all the others. Please do not tell me i have to buy them!

Hi @ces58,

You can select the font in use for your text from the left side of the Context Toolbar, with the text/text object selected -

Is this the list you are referring to that only shows Arial? If so, please ensure that the 'All' category is selected, rather than 'Recent' or 'Used'.

I hope this helps :)

Well check your APub installment, sounds like it doesn't find all system fonts then. What you can try is, resetting the app to it's defaults and/or reset fonts (Preferences > Misc > Reset Fonts). - See therefor ...

If all the above said doesn't change the font list behavior, then uninstall and reinstall APub, but maybe then instead of MSIX installer use an MSI exe installer ...

In addition to the advice above, the Font Manager dialog only shows the fonts that are being used in your document, if any.

Also, the application should be able to use most*1 of the fonts that are installed on your machine without you needing to install them in the application*2

*1 Some fonts can’t be used by the Affinity applications, for various technical reasons, but most should be available.

*2 You can install some fonts from Serif into the applications but there are only a few of them and there’s a set procedure for that which is mentioned in the Help.

In that case just switch to another tab in the fonts fly-out menu, e.g. to "All".
EDIT: sorry, I did not consider the literally mentioned "Font Manager dialog".

Have now found it but why is this software so much harder to get to grips with?

• First of all it depends on what software interface and navigation we are used to / familiar with when starting with Affinity.

• Secondly, because of the different UI / UX concept (possibly influenced by the goal of having a common file format for 3 different applications).
• Thirdly, because the design of the user experience did not seem to be primarily focused on workflow efficiency (e.g. the number of clicks required to access certain commands or property settings).
