Trying to use Photo, but the program frequently freezes and I have to kill it in task manager.

I'm working on the same system where I process 4k video in Davinci Resolve very reliably, so I'm skeptical that it's a system resource issue, unless Photo is extremely poor at resource management.

Is this a common problem for many folks? How do I figure out what's causing the freezes? The program is pretty unusable if this keeps happening.

Well that doesn't work. I get the message that ..."AffinityPhoto2.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I'm running 1.10.6.1665. Just updated this morning. Don't know anything about V1 or V2, or whatever. Bought the program a few years ago. Just trying to use it is all, without having to become a software programmer to figure it all out. Not pleased right now.

The target of the shortcut on my desktop is ""C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\Photo.exe""

You have version 1 of Affinity Photo.

Open Photo, then Edit -> Preferences -> Performance and then remove the tick in "*Hardware Acceleration", if there's a tick present in the checkbox.

If you can start the apps and they run then look under the top menu "Affinity Photo -> Preferences..." and there under "Performance Options" disable the OpenCL hardware acceleration then.

See in the online help for APh v2 ...

Follow-on - I found the FAQ for the V1 software (which is apparently what I have) nd turned off the hardware acceleration in the Preferences. Seems to have resolved that problem, at least.

Thanks for the help!
