Thanks for your reply.

Just been looking at this again and discovered that if I open the native .DWG file in Inventor and then 'Save As' .DWG it can be imported to Affinity in a fully visible and editable state. I don't understand it but it works which is good enough for me. Yet another oddity in the Autodesk universe.

This is brilliant news as I've been waiting for this since the changeover from DrawPlus.
