Publisher 2.1.1 Can't change table cell properties from table on master page on legacy file

Recommended Posts

This was a 1.0 file I upgraded to 2.0. If I create a new V2 file the problem does not occur.

I have a table on the master page it used to have a bottom border but I removed it. The linked page to this master still has the border and there is no way you can edit it to remove it. I have the simplest file attached - try and edit the borders on the table of page 1 using V2. In the actual file I can't apply the master as it has placeholder content that conflicts with the pages content.

Thanks for taking a look

Might be a Windows thing. I have no problem here on Mac OS 11.7 with removing the lines from the table on Page One.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Works fine here (Windows 11)

Select the Master page layer in the Layers panel, right-click it and select Edit Detached, select the table layer and do what you want with it

Hi @drkanukie,

I also am not having any issues editing the table borders on your page after detaching the master, I can freely select which border I want to edit and then change the stroke properties etc.

In this scenario it would be good if you could provide us with a screen recording demonstrating what's happening when you're trying to edit the table borders on the page after detaching the master.

Many thanks!

Thanks I thought you could just detach any layer within.

I wish we could, maybe someday.

It kind of breaks my mental model too that updating the master table format doesn't update all the pages which is what I want. Seems due to limitations (the text frame is unlinked) you have to do it for every instance page at a time or am I missing a trick on how to do this?

This confuses me.

Could just be the way we work. With my work I never have Placeholder text or Placeholder images on a Master Page. Just empty Text and Image Frames and stuff that I want to occur on every page that I apply the Master to. I name everything on my Master Pages, the names helps with reapplication.

I have a table where all the headings are the same on every page but the values are blank so the heading values are in the master. I only have empty image frames but they get copied empty on top of the actual instances if I apply the master page. I do have placeholder text in the master text frames I should remove it as its more trouble.
