Yes, you can do that with Affinity Photo. There are several options here. One of them is to use the Selection Brush tool image.png.2b29d40f44497dc80188a72785e5694a.png. With this tool you select all the areas that you want to keep. With Refine the selection can be adjusted even finer. The second option is to use the Pen Tool image.png.adce265abd5b1be422e4ba91d9cfd5a1.png. Here you select the outline of the object and then create a selection mask from it.
