Pb_bks
HI I’m new to Affinity and was wondering if there is an easier way of formatting the file for Ingramspark delivery. Right now, I feel like I’m Jimmy rigging the software. Please let me know. Thank you Penelope
Hangman
Hi @Pb_bks, Could you provide a little additional information in terms of what specifically you are creating, i.e., Page size How many pages Black & white, Colour or a mix of the two Purely text-based or a mix of text and images and so on? What in particular are you finding difficult when it comes to formatting? Are you using V1 or V2 of Publisher? That will really help to focus on providing information and help specific to your use case... Pb_bks
Thanks for replying - here is the info below I'm working with affinity publisher and I start with the standard KDP format for an 8.5 x 8.5 book size with 36 pages in color. But then I set up a new document for KDP paperback and ebook but then I also have to set up a new template for Ingram spark is that correct or is there a way to just do one and export for Ingram spark. Page size How many pages Black & white, Colour or a mix of the two Purely text-based or a mix of text and images Yes text and images and so on? What in particular are you finding difficult when it comes to formatting? Just wanting to know if I have to do two separate templates. Are you using V1 or V2 of Publisher? V2 Also when I share the affinity file with my bk designer to clean up she has to reload all the photos again. I there a way to eliminate this double process? or am I not knowing something? I appreciate it. Thank you Penelope

I don't think you need a separate template for IngramSpark. If the specs are the same for both in terms of page size, bleed (if required) and margins then you should be able to use the same template for both KDP and Ingram Spark. Just be mindful of the file creation specs on pages 18 and 19 and the PDF specs for submission on pages 36 to 38 (even though they are for InDesign), the majority of settings are the same in Publisher. These are the Ingram Spark specs... ingramspark-file-creation-guide.pdf 15 hours ago, Pb_bks said: Also when I share the affinity file with my bk designer to clean up she has to reload all the photos again. If you use the Save as Package feature that will collect all the content from your book, fonts, images and any linked files which means when your book designer opens your file there should be no need to relink anything, as the link between Publisher file and images should remain intact, so long as the images aren't moved to a different folder. Alternatively, depending on the size and how many images you have, you could embed rather than link the images. This will make the Publisher file size larger but it means your book designer won't need to relink the images.
