Therp Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I use Affinity V2 and the scroll bar next to the layers panel (RHS) has suddently disappeared without any warning. Any ideas how to get this back ? Its always been there but it's suddenly vanished. I don't know how to restore it. I don't want to reset the studio in case I loose my shortcuts in my library. Quote
GarryP Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 If you have fewer layers in the Layers Panel than the software would need to provide a scroll bar for then it will not provide a scroll bar. If you can give us a full-screen screenshot where we can see the Layers Panel then we can probably help further. Quote
Therp Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Thank you. I've attahed a screen shot of the layers panel. I've duplicated the original layer and removed any other adjustment layers. As you can see - the scroll bar is not there. Without the scroll bar it makes it really difficult to place various layers in the background photo and see where you have placed them. I don't know why its suddenly disappeared. Scroll bar gone.docx Quote
Staff Callum Posted July 11, 2023 Staff Posted July 11, 2023 Hi Therp, The scroll bar will only appear when the layers list extends past the boundary of the layers panel which it doesn't look like it does in your screenshot. If you add more layers does the scroll bar eventually appear? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

For future reference it's better to just attach a PNG or JPG image so we can see it directly, rather than having to download and open a file. I’m curious as to why having a scroll bar in the Layers Panel, in this specific case, would make it easier to “place various layers in the background and see where you have placed them”. Can you explain what you are trying do do and what the scroll bar gives you that you can’t get without it. Quote
Therp Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Sorry - apologies for clumsy photo format earlier - didn't realise what the protocol was. I've added a bunch of adjustment layers and yes, the scroll bar has appeared but now the backgrouind layers have disappeared underneath them and I'm unable to view them even with the scroll bar present. EDIT:- Actually - ignore that !! I've just had another look and play aroud. My Hisotry panel was obscruing the background layers. All has returned to normal. Thanks everyone for your help. GarryP Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Good to know you’ve got it working. In case anyone reading this is wondering, the Panel Group containing the History Panel was ‘free-floating’ and therefore obscuring the Layers panel. You can see if a Panel Group is ‘free-floating’ if it has a little round “X” icon at the top-right. In this case all that was needed was to move the Panel Group elsewhere on the screen or to Dock it inside a Studio. Old Bruce 1 Quote
Old Bruce Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Further to GarryP's explanation on Mac OS the little X is on the Left. When it first happened to me I didn't panic, I just curled into a ball. The next time it happens to me (probably later today) I will try your panic idea.
