Af Publisher Beta keeps saying ‘Missing fonts’ when trying to open a WIP doc that I was already working on with the previous publisher 2 version. I can’t locate any missing font as all documents I offered kept getting tossed. Now my WIP is all blurry and now the publisher 2 is also showing blurry images and my work is ruined. I need to start from scratch!

You've just learned a valuable lesson: beta versions are for testing only, and should never be used for real documents or real work.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought you posted in the release version feedback section.

Best

Hello @Divax,

😉It's the job that's coming in. Serif may be able to recover the initial file, but nothing is less certain.

Using a beta version of any software does indeed entail risks, including the possibility of encountering bugs that are not present in the stable version. This is precisely the purpose of beta testing: to discover these problems before the final version is released.

Saving the document created with a stable version is therefore an important step in beta testing. However, beta testing cannot do without working in real-life conditions, as this alone can often uncover malfunctions that cannot be detected with a summary document.

Our role as beta testers requires us to test in real-life situations. These preliminary versions, although unstable and likely to contain anomalies, are an indispensable playground for detecting problems that only manifest themselves in real-life situations, and which would sometimes go unnoticed on documents that are too sketchy.

Bests,

6 cœurs, 12 processus - Windows 11 pro - 4K - DirectX 12 - Suite universelle Affinity (Affinity  Publisher, Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo).

Mais je vous le demande, peut-on imaginer une police sans sérifs ?

Hi @Divax

Was the original document created on a different machine? As the fonts used within the app are taken from the fonts installed on your OS.

If the images within your file are linked then they will be blurred until they are re-linked. You can do this in the Resource Manager by selecting re-link, navigating to the location where the file is stored and selecting the image.

Could you attach a copy of the file in question so we can get a better idea of your issue?

Hi, it usually relinks automatically. I’ve been using all Affinity apps now since they launched, I’ve never had to manually link anything before so I’m surprised. I however did select the original folder when it asked to link but nothing happened.

Bests,

Thanks. I’m learning to save and preserve my works now. Funny enough, I haven’t encountered any problems with the affinity designer beta yet, only the publisher beta.
