Geoff2250
Crop Tool - red and green guides. These no longer appear with V2 - thought they were great in V1. What has happened to them ? Guides/grids - Although these are ticked in "View" they do not show on image. Have set up a "guides" preset but once turned on, will not turn off. The default "Automatic" Grid in Photo 2 is a Pixel grid. To have a visible grid you'll need to change it to a different grid style and configure the settings you want (and possibly create a Grid Preset), or zoom in significantly. Geoff2250
to Old Bruce - I didn't have Snapping turned on. It was on in V1, so unless I've clicked it off inadvertently, then it didn't transfer when I upgraded to V2 by the looks of it. to Walt - don't know why they changed it from V1 - it was straightforward - when I wanted a Grid, just a simple tick turned it on and off. After much experimentation I stumbled on the Grid and Axis item, and have set up a preset. I even set up a shortcut (cue circuits round the room to celebrate my success - a UK football analogy), but forgot that this is where the on and off tick is (I know now). On the topic of cropping, could I ask a further question please ? I use light mode to process in Affinity, and have set a certain shade of grey for my background. In V1 when I use the Crop Tool, the background is the same shade as the base background. In V2 the shade changes to a much darker grey. Is there a particular reason for this ? The Background and Artboard backgrounds have been set the same in V1 and V2 - or almost, as there are differences between V1 and V2 in the UI interface. In the meantime, thank you for your assistance.

GarryP
See attached image. If you don’t have that row of controls – the Context Toolbar – then you need to use menu “View → Show Context Toolbar”. If you can see the Context Toolbar but can’t see all of the controls then you need to press the “>>” button at the right of the toolbar to see more controls. Geoff2250
Thanks GarryP. I think you must have a MAC, as I don't get quite the same layout on a PC, but the >> arrows led me to the "culprit". For some reason the "darken" was ticked. Must have done this on one of my "what does this do" expeditions, and I'm only now finding out. Thanks for yet another problem solved. I think the reason your screen does not look the same is because your window is narrower than his, so some of the rightmost items on your Context toolbar won't fit on it, so they are accessible through the ">>" menu icon. IOW, if Garry reduced the app window width enought, his would look like yours & the ">>" button would appear for Context Toolbar items that won't fit within it.
