Just looking through filming locations for backgrounds.

Though AFAI recall, there the red Mini had no grill headlights.

some photos I found show it with some without, could re-watch the film to be sure but it's fine. If I'm wrong then it's just a regular red Austin Cooper S.

IMO it looks better with those grill headlights (...slightly more aggresive)! - I just (re)looked here on old Youtube passages of the older orig movie (1969), as I wasn't sure myself for that ...

But I know there's a more modern movie remake from 2003, maybe that has those (didn't looked after that at YT). There in that 2003 version the red one doesn't seem to have those either!

Perhaps the photo I used wasn’t a genuine Italian Job one then even though it said it was. Not the end of the world though, it’s still a mini and there wasn’t anything unique about the film ones.

Maybe who knows, the net is full of such similarity stuff too.

That's right.

BTW, I'm still a big fan of your 2017 Ferrari Dino Berlinetta & 2018 E-Type drawings.

Just checking: https://www.carreg.co.uk/carreg-news/the-secrets-on-the-italian-job-personalised-number-plates/

All three Minis seem to have had grilled headlights.

this shows the white mini with them in a film still

https://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/The-Italian-Job-cars.jpg

But this shows it without. But anyway it looks OK as it is.

Had a quick scan through the film. I think they do all have headlight grilles, well the white and blue ones have so doubt the red one is any different. It’s just that they have their lights on except for when you initially see them parked and you can’t see them when they’re moving.

They had them on all the time they were driving even on the streets in full daylight. It's been a very long time since I watched it and was sort of surprised that the mini's didn't feature until so late on in the film.

That was a interesting piece. The MK1 grille is just so much nicer than the later one, not sure why they changed it.

I agree re the grille, I used to own a Austin Mini Cooper S Mk1, it was a bit beat up by the time I got it and I really wish I'd kept it. mine was whiteish, I'm sure the colour was Old English White. The awesome thing about the mini was I'm 6ft 3in and I actually fit in it comfortably, it had one of those sunvisor strips that said "Hop In I'm Not Fussy" lol

I had an Island Blue mk2 Cooper at one time, so external hinges like the mk1 but with angular grille. Classic Mini’s are really fun to drive at normal speeds, 30 felt like 60. Not the most practical car though, tiny boot made even tinier with the fuel tank and battery. Not the safest either with just a single door skin between you and the outside world.

Yes old english white. The trouble with them is they did love to rust, but all cars did back then. The Cooper and above have become very expensive now even basket cases, so it would have been a good investment if you stored it somewhere totally dry. I remember when you could pick them up for hardly anything. Whilst I’m not as tall as you I also remember banging my head on the roof going down typically bad back roads.

lol! they were very rudimentary and yes, there was no boot per'se, many was the time I had the boot tied down with string, I bought another mini from the Manheim Car Auctions for £50, that would have been a cracking return on an investment, hindsight is a bitch lol

But, for all their; lets be polite, quirks, you drove with a smile and definitely had fun, the £50 mini could tell some stories of the adventures me and my mates had for sure, at one point we all had mini's and that was entirely because of the movie The Italian Job. I feel a book needs to be written lol.

Found a really tiny reference photo and thought I'd see if it still looked like a car once I'd finished with it.

Amazing work! Please keep doing what you do! :)
