Intuos5 Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 In Affinity Designer 2.1.1, Windows 10.19045, selected objects remain selected after locking a layer. This is odd, because if you lock a layer and then perform the selection, locked layers are not selected. In other software, I often use layer locking to get rid of specific parts of a selection. 2023-07-07 08-49-04.mp4 Steps to reproduce 1. Create random objects on multiple layers 2. Perform object selection (Ctrl+Shift+LMB drag) 3. Lock a certain layer after selection 4. Move the selection 5. Notice how the objects on locked layers, groups or inside other shapes remain selected Quote
Dan C Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Thanks for your report @Intuos5! I can confirm that I have been able to replicate this issue and have logged it with our development team. I hope this helps Intuos5 1 Quote
Intuos5 Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 @Dan C I want to add that this issue also extends to artboards. 1. Select an artboard in the layers panel 2. Activate the rectangle tool 3. You can draw an object on a locked artboard Quote
Dan C Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Thanks Intuos, as far as I'm aware locking an Artboard will only stop this from being directly selectable with the Move Tool and will stop the artboard from being transformable. This does not stop new objects/layers from being added or drawn on a locked Artboard - though perhaps this could be considered as an option for a future update Intuos5 1 Quote

The real locking layers I mean here, not only for the artboards issue in this case. Affinity is slowly moving in this direction, notice that you cannot select locked objects from the canvas anymore (nor change their appearance). And the select > same tools are getting support to filter out locked objects (so to say). Quote

If I select a locked layer in the Layers panel I can still change the colour, stroke etc. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Intuos5 Posted July 13, 2023 Author Posted July 13, 2023 @ReturnI did report a couple of these bugs on the select same tools and they were logged for development. Quote
