bbtdm Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 When you create a project where is the gallery located that it's supposed to be saved in? I've already created my folders in the assets section but I don't know how to get my projects saved in there.
walt.farrell Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. I'm not sure what you mean by "projects" given that you then start talking about Assets. Projects are usually saved as files (.afphoto, .afdesign, or .afpub) in your file system, outside of the application. Or you can save Templates to use in future projects, again in your file system. If you're talking about saving Assets, you create categories in the Assets panel, and subcategories within the categories, then you can add assets to the subcategories. The Help has more information about doing that: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Panels/assetsPanel.html But it would be good to have confirmation and more details about what you mean, to get you started down the right path -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop 1: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. bbtdm Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 I am pretty new to using Affinity and a youtube video talked about the gallery in affinity designer which is where you could see all the projects you have and can duplicate. About the assets, I have a color palette template that I created and was wondering if it could be stored there.

Assets™ was a very poor word to choose for this feature. Conjures up a scenario like what you are talking about. They are not individually saved and individually invoked/placed/opened/imported files. You make Assets™ from within the various applications. They are stored en masse in the application's memory. So if you have a 100 MBs of Assets™ then that much memory is required each time you start the application. If you have 10 GBs of Assets™ then 10 GBs of memory is required each time you start the application. The folders you have created should probably be removed, they may cause problems. Anything you place in those folders will not be visible or available as an Asset™ as the Affinity applications use. Swatches Palettes can be stored in Documents as Document Palettes, or as Application or System Palettes. I think Mac OS has the System Palettes and Windows doesn't. bbtdm Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 Ok, understand about the assets issue but what about the gallery issue? From my understanding of the youtube videos, it's when you create a project and where you can see all the projects you have and can duplicate them.

That said, I think the YT video was talking about the Live Docs item on the iPad versions that shows small thumbnails of all the open documents. In the Windows version you don't have that.
