Do I need to keep Affinity Photo V1 for any reason?

I've only been using V2 for a while. Is there any reason at all why I should keep V1? Could there be any important presets or other content that I may have in it that didn't carry over and I should double-check?

Unless you are desperate to recover some disk space what's the harm in keeping V1 installed for a few months or so?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I keep V1 only to be able to support users not wanting to upgrade, and as test environment to check if bugs already existed in V1, or actually got fixed in V2. So nostalgic reasons.

Yes, guilty of hoarding useless things longer than reasonable.

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.

As far I know your custom V1 presets aren't auto-transferred with a V2 installation. So it depends whether you moved/converted your V1 user data by yourself to V2 respectively have saved them separately. Means, while your V1 app can get reinstalled again (via download from either Serif or Windows / Apple Store), your custom presets will be lost with a deinstallation of V1 and its related system folders, including your user data – unless you have stored them before at a separate place that does not get removed by a deinstallation procedure.

@Alfred, I’m a big fan of your pedantry especially if not in focus myself  because it helps me to understand my lacks in English 😙 – but in this case I don't understand your linked hint. Yes, I had "beziehungsweise" in mind, and yes, in the meaning of "and" or "or" or "and/or" while I used it to substitute or avoid confusion possibly caused by a combination of ors.

So, what do you recommend to use instead of "respectively" if it is not just meaning "to be more precise" but rather to add alternative(s) that can either include or exclude another? (here: data can get transferred and backuped – but don't have to be both.)

“Respectively”, as normally used in English, means “individually and in the order already mentioned”; e.g. “Giants and dwarves are large and small, respectively.”

Your example of “and/or” covers exactly that situation.

Great, I used that "Clear User Data" post as a checklist to go through V1, I noticed that some macros and tone mapping presets I don't remember copying over were transferred to V2, but styles were not. And also as far as I can tell, styles exported from V1 cannot be imported to V2, so I have to recreate any of them I want to keep.

Edit: So I have to import them, and they show up in a different category on the styles tab.

I have to keep at least one of the Affinity v1 apps installed because there’s an issue with the v2 apps and the Windows 10 File Explorer preview pane.
