Hi Everyone,

Quick question about exporting or resizing for web and social media.  Is there any reason not to resize and already edited and exported JPEG when you want to upload it to social media or for publication on a web page?

Asked another way, is there any benefit in quality gained from exporting from the .afphoto file specifically for this purpose?

I suppose I have it in my mind that anytime you are manipulating the already small JPEG export, that this will degrade quality further.

Thanks for the advice!

When deciding whether or not to resize an image, you will need to consider the size and quality of the original image, and the type of website.

When producing images for a website, a basic approach is to size images to the largest dimension that they will be displayed on the site. If the original images are high quality, resizing shouldn’t degrade the quality beyond what a bit of sharpening can’t take care of. It’s best to keep image sizes as small as possible to reduce page load time… if it’s a small site without many images, image size may be less critical.

When producing images for a business’ social media page, it’s a good idea to find out the recommended image specs... easy to find via Google search If your posting personal stuff on social media, generally speaking, image size probably isn’t something you need to worry about.
