MikeTO
Create a blank document and create a sidenote as shown in the screenshot below (just set Note Body Style = Body and In Note Body > Number Style = Emphasis). Once that's done: Type two words Format the first word with a character style such as Strong Add a note after the second word and start typing into the note - it will be formatted as Strong Publisher picks up the last applied character style (not individually applied character attributes) no matter where you applied it in the document, even if it was an hour ago and you've typed pages worth of text since then. Because you don't remember what the last character style you used was the action of creating a note is unpredictable, you can't know how it's going to be formatted. MikeTO
I should clarify: > Publisher picks up the last applied character style (not individually applied character attributes) In addition to inheriting the last applied character style, this bug does apply the last individually applied character attribute such as Italic. My mistake. MikeTO
[EDIT - this one isn't a bug, it was user fail, see Walt's feedback below] I was looking for a related bug I think reported but I can't find it so I'll just mention it here. Applying formatting to the first character of the note body applies it to the note reference. If you want the first word of the note body to be italic then the note reference will be italic. The workaround is to add a zero width space. So, it's consistent with how Bullets and Numbering works, for example. You need a character text style defined for the Footnote Marker or it inherits the character formatting of the first character that follows it. You're right, it is the same bug as shown here with the second note needing to start with an italicized word. And when both functions have the same design where you can (must, really) specify a Character Text Style for the bullet, number, or footnote character. The problem was that my character style didn't specifically define it as Myriad Pro Regular, it just inherited it from the paragraph style. I have fixed it now so thank you. walt.farrell 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.5 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.5 for macOS Sequoia 15.1, MacBook Pro 14" (M4 Pro)
