Freddie360 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Is it possible to lock an Affinity photo file, I would like to make a quick lock (light security) without to many computer contortions.

But regardless, yes, there is a form of locking for Affinity files, at least in V1. But no, you cannot do it; only Serif can lock them. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop 1: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Freddie360 Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 I am sorry Walt, I do not understand your reply. When I say lock, I just want to prevent other people from opening the file, if Affinity Photo does not do it, maybe there is a small app that does.

On Windows (and I assume on Mac OS, too) you can change the file's properties to 'read only'. That way you can open and view a file but you cannot save changes back to that particular file. The file remains unchanged. d. Affinity Suite on Windows (V2) and iPad (V2). Beta testing when available. You do not want other people being able to seeing the file's content. A simple way could be to ZIP the file and use a password. d. Affinity Suite on Windows (V2) and iPad (V2). Affinity does not have any support for that kind of locking. It has support in V1 for a different kind of locking (allowing reading, but preventing modifications), but users cannot use that function. Only Serif can use it. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop 1: Windows 11 Pro 24H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. GarryP Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Why not? If you can give more details about the situation then we might be able to help better.

I want to prevent other people from accessing my Affinity Photo files, a simple password is want I would like. The Zipped idea sounds an easy way of achieving this, I just cant fine a way to apply a password to the Zipped file.

Who are these other people? Where are these other people? Where are your files? How do other people access your files at the moment?
Freddie360 Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Garry, I am going to use a free app (Encrypto) to solve my issue, thanks for your interest.

It seems you already found an app that solves the task for you. Wonderful. On Windows it seems to be possible to password protect a file from its properties window. I just read about this and haven't tried it by myself. d. Affinity Suite on Windows (V2) and iPad (V2). Beta testing when available.
