what is the red circle icon on brush on affinity designer

Recommended Posts

I was confused, I created a new brush using a png file to create an image brush, but it displays a red circle icon. What is it? Error or something? Please explain something on the window like mouseover.

And if I have any troubles, how do I find the solution? Do you have a ChatGPT? In this case, I don't know the red circle icon. Do you have a unique name?

Hi @tetsujikenny welcome to the forums,

The red circle on the brush in the brushes panel indicates that you are working on a modified version of that brush  (Likely since you have edited that brushes properties locally under the 'more' button) and it is no longer following the original settings.

In the brushes panel, if you de-select that brush and then re-select it you should find that it has reset back to the standard blue highlight. The affinity help guide linked below is a good place to start with if you're running into any issues.

Hi @Kevin Maguire,

We'll need a little more information on your problem, as the context of this thread was to do with what the red modifier icon means in the brush panel so I'm not sure what you've tried or what's going wrong currently I'm afraid.

Is there any chance you could send us a screen recording which demonstrates your brush issue? The FAQ below details how to find these.

Many thanks!
