Update 2.1 affinity photo

I work on MAC and I bought affinity version 2 on the Affinity site.
I can't manage to update to 2.1 and each time I get this message

Hi, if you can't the automatic update to work you can download the update from the Serif store. Go to store.serif.com, click the profile icon in the upper right corner, sign in, click Menu in the upper right corner, choose My Account, and you'll find Downloads in there.

Perhaps you have not properly installed the program? You will get that message if you are running Photo 2 from the original DMG file you downloaded, instead of copying it to Applications.

Hi @Kate77and Welcome to the Forums,

As @walt.farrellhas explained, you'll see that error when running Affinity from the original DNG file.   

If you open Finder, you should see the Affinity Photo DMG listed under Locations and if you double click that you should see a window with the Affinity icon on and also an icon for Applications.  Just click and drag the Affinity icon to the Applications icon and that will install Affinity correctly.  Once that's done, open Applications and you'll able to start Affinity and you should then be able to install the update
