feline Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I am a new user of Affinity 2.1.1 - purchased 20/5/23 - (after many years of using the Adobe Design suites) After doing some intensive work in Affinity Photo involving recording a macro, batch processing, adjustments, exporting etc. Affinity Photo is crashing as it is about to open. The message, in the image below, comes up "...The last time...". By now I have probably cleared any user data I had, using the "control" key whilst trying to open the app (see 2nd image below), but still can't open the Photo App. What can I do to get Photo going again? Staff Lee D Posted June 26, 2023 Staff Posted June 26, 2023 @felineWelcome to the forums. From your desktop go to the Go menu, hold down Option and click on Library to open a Finder window. Now browse to Application Support > Affinity Photo 2 >, now check the autosave and temp folders for any files. If they contain any, click drag them to your desktop (Don't delete, just in case) and then see if the app will fully open. Quote
feline Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 Thank you for the advice. I have tried it without success. Re started the computer and tried again, but Photo 2 is still crashing before it opens. Quote

Whether they were empty or not, did you find the autosave & temp folders in the ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2 folder? If you could not find them, you may have been looking in the wrong Library folder. feline Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Yes I found the autosave & temp folders. The autosave was empty and I dragged the file from the temp folder to the desk top, as advised and tried to open Photo but no success. Quote
R C-R Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 OK, in your first post you said the app was crashing as it is opened, but the screenshot suggests it has opened enough to display the splash screen & the 'last time' message. So at that point what happens if you click the "Don't Reopen" button? Do you get a notification from the OS that the app has quit unexpectedly or something else? feline Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Correct. I get the OS notification below: Quote

feline Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 I think it might be best to reinstall Affinity Photo. At this point I have very few customised workflow elements so a good time to start again. Any advice as to what I need to delete before I reinstall? Quote
v_kyr Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Well the exception code tells that it crashes with an EXC_I386_DIV (divide by zero) and get's a floating point exception, so due to dividing two numbers, but one of them (the divisor) happens to be zero, when presumably it shouldn't be. - And the more useful parts of the crash report, namely the whole stack trace of the "Crashed Thread 0" is missing here. So what has been only shown so far from the crash report here is pretty meaningless for finding the real cause and origin of the crash problem here!
