Text wrap question

I just can't seem to get this to totally work. I'm working on documents that are lots of text and photos and I want the text to wrap around the photo. I click on the photo, click on "text wrap" then "show wrap setting"s  in the text menu. I select "square" and then the "wrap to" option. All of that works great, the text wraps around the photo. But the text goes all the way up to the edge of the photo. I need a little gutter in between. When I change the numbers under "distance from text" nothing happens. I can have it at 0.1 inch or 1.0 inch, the type doesn't move. How do I get that to work?

It should just work.

Are you using V1 or V2? Mac or Windows, and what release?

Can you provide screenshots, or a screen recording, to help illustrate your problem. Or perhaps a sample document where you've tried to set it and it didn't work?

It's version 2 and I'm on on Windows 11.

Let me get some screen shots.

In this picture you can see I have the distance from text for the left set to 1 inch and parts of the text are touching the edge. I doesn't matter what I do to that number, the text doesn't shift like it should. And it's multiple cases, not just this photo box.

I think you need to set the right edge to > 0 for this to work, but I am not sure.

Oh this is so weird. I moved the photo to the middle of the page and it worked. So then I moved it back in the corner where I wanted it and it still worked. Then I changed my one-inch run-around to something reasonable. There's a photo in the bottom left corner doing the same thing. Moving it to the center then back. Just being temperamental I suppose. Thanks for replying to me!

I think you had the wrong object/layer selected. There was no bounding box showing for that image, for example. But without the Layers panel showing it's hard to be sure.

I was thinking the same thing, then noticed the Node tool is active. I believe the appearance of the image (with blue outline) is consistent with being selected with the Node tool.

All I know is I moved around and back and it's working now. I wish there was a way to change the measurement on the distance from inches to picots.

The node tool was there because I clicked on that messing around with it trying to figure out what was wrong then couldn't get completely rid of it.

The final product looks very nice.

I tried figuring out what was going on, but couldn’t replicate the issue. Everything looks good in your Text Wrap settings. It’s a mystery. Like you said, it seems like it was just being temperamental. 🤷‍♂️

I wonder why you didn’t rotate and crop out the table and shadows of the right hand photo?

I'm wondering why I didn't take a better picture at the time. I'll eventually get the original and replace it with a decent scan. This is a work in progress.
