Cuttend Software to Affnity Designer

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've gained a plotter me recently. On my Mac I work with Affinity Designer. In the Plotter CutWizard is attached as cutting software. Sorry can not drive Affinity Designer CutWizard. Can you recommend me an alternative to CutWizard?

Is the CutWizard a full app, or a plugin for another app?

If it is a full app - does it allow you to import SVG or PDF?

I'm using Silhouette Studio Designer Edition for my Silhouette Cameo.  Haven't perfected the exporting / importing ---yet.  :-)

I sent a tweet to Silhouette America asking if they had any plans to add the Affinity file format to the Studio app, I got a reply saying they would pass the info on to their developing team.

So hopefully it might just happen.

Our file format is proprietary, so I doubt they will get very far with that!

We do export PDF and SVG, so you should look into using those file formats.

Oh right i didn't realise that.

Anyway would it be difficult for them to make a plugin for Affinity Designer to use with there cutter?

They will not be able to use our files.  And I doubt we will write a plugin for other apps for importing our documents.

Cutwizard is compatible with only a couple of cutters/plotters.  I would not expect Silhouette America to put a lot of time into getting this to work.

Their are other options out there but you will need to export from AD and import into your cutting software.

Silhouette sells the plug ins for CorelDRAW and AI, so I would think the plug in for AD would have to come from them as well.  But they're not going to do it if there are only a dozen of us that want it.  :-)
