Very strange Script appearance from Publisher to PDF, which I have no clue about: The top one shows the look in AFP and the second one the output PDF. What is happening here? Thanks in advance and Kind Regards, Uwe

Hi @Uwe-R-aus-B,

Is the font used for the orange and greenish headings Bebas Neue?

Are you able to upload a sample page or spread from your Publisher document along with the resulting pdf file so we can take a look at what might be causing the problem? Out of interest if you export the pdf file with Subset fonts unchecked, do you see the same issue?

Yes it is. Reduced-2023-EXAMPLE.pdfReduced-2023-EXAMPLE.afpub

I think of, as the original file was once done with Adobe Id and now using the pdfs from that output, realizing that some font layers had been build kind of stuck together in a strange way, so I might have to "repair" it by setting it up new.

Just the way, that it looks quite good in AP made me wonder.

Thanks in advance and Kind Regards,

Uwe

The various versions of Bebas Neue are constructed in a way that causes problems if installed together. IIRC the name fields have duplicate PostScript names which confuse the PDF export library. Work-around - Only install just the fonts you are actually using.

I also have fixed versions of the fonts if you would like to have those.

I deleted all unnecessary and kept the webfontkit only but still have the same issue.

Also since today, dragging a new, empty textbox it appears blue instead of white or empty as it was since I can think of. I cannot see the blue color in any checkbox-field?

Starting with e brand new file, I don't have this issue. I assume the Id created PDF is kind of corrupted? And no I don't want to use Id now, it might be easier but still I try as hard as I can to avoid Adobe and for one instance/app only I am able to do so.

Kind regards and Thanks again,

Uwe

Try downloading and installing the version from Google fonts, this works as expected for me...

https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Bebas+Neue

With regards the blue background in your text frame go to Window > Text > Text Frame and change the fill colour to none...

I got the BEBAS originally from google fonts and that time. I also try now to delete (move) that BEBAS webfont to elsewhere outside of my fonts folder and try as you say with a complete newly downloaded BEBAS. Thanks also for the text frame screenshot.

And I learned something about textboxes, which I thought is not possible. Like it.

Yep.

of course it looks like this. This was just a reduced document for a quick assessment. Thanks.

I actually fixed the one with the quotation marks, thanks for that too. That was originally put in Id, was never objected to, let alone noticed, I think. How do I do that right away in the publisher? It always does it automatically at the top, ...

Grüße and Kind Regards,

Uwe

Ich glaube, du musst – wenn nicht bereits gesetzt: zuerst die Sprache des Textes auf Deutsch setzen – und dann die Anführungszeichen löschen + neu tippen.

Perhaps, there is also an automatic method to get typographical quote characters auto-corrected according to the frame or text language but I did not find it yet, – may be someone else might know.

So, the quotation marks indeed start as intended as soon as I set the Autokorrektur to German.

Thanks for that as well.

Kindest Regards,

Uwe
