AP Media Bowser & Apple's Photos

Recommended Posts

I have a question about the Media Browser in AP. When I load a raw photo (.nef file, Nikon Raw) into Affinity Photo, what loads is a jpeg of the photo and not the raw file. Has anyone had this issue. See the attached screen shot.

Thanks

Mike

Hi,

For now the Media Bowser does not import RAW, so it is behaving correctly. If you want to work with RAW you'll have to export from Photos - using the Export Unmodified Original option then open with Affinity Photo.

In this respect, the Affinity Media Browser works the same as the system-wide Open > Sidebar > Media > Photo item, sometimes also called the Media Browser. That is, any app that supports the system Media Browser to open photos in the Apple Photos.app library will open a JPEG version of the photo, even if the only version in the Photos library is a RAW format one like a .nef file.
