Scythian Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Dear Affinity! (sorry for my bad english) APUB, 2.1.0.1799 (Beta); Windows 10, Hungarian language I've been using Publisher since 2.0 for production work (I make books, I needed the footnotes). The following error occurred both in 2.0 and now: In the first line at the top of the page of a justified paragraph that moves to the next page, during editing that results in the movement of characters between the first and second lines, the cursor appears to jump after entering or deleting a character. The same error occurs in the first line of the justified paragraph after the titles at the top of the page, as well as in the justified paragraph first lines of footnotes. In fact, the newer characters are entered in the correct position of the cursor, but the cursor is not shown in its actual position. A very disturbing phenomenon! As a workaround for such edits, I temporarily close the paragraph to the left, edit, and then restore the paragraph justified. Please correct the error! Thanks. As an illustration, I am attaching two screenshots of typing an "m" character.
MikeTO Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Hi @Scythian and welcome to the forums. Does this issue happen with hyphenation turned off, too? I'm wondering if it's caused by the combination of hyphenation and justification. I'm unable to duplicate this issue on macOS. However, there was a similar issue reported by somebody with 2.0 or 2.1 but I think that one was fixed. I don't recall what the steps were to reproduce that other issue. Hi MikeTO, the problem only occurs if separation is on and alignment is excluded, if the program needs to define a new separation point due to the editing. The problem is the same when setting English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, as in the case of Hungarian. I noticed three types of cases: -- in the first line of a paragraph that flows to the next page on the next page -- in the first and second lines of the first paragraph after the headings at the top of the page -- in the first line of footnotes I am attaching screenshots in this order: ............................................................................................................................................... ............................................................................................................................................... Scythian Posted June 23, 2023 Author Posted June 23, 2023 Hi Chris, I sent a simplified document earlier. Is it possible to fix it?
Staff Chris B Posted June 26, 2023 Staff Posted June 26, 2023 Hey Scythian, Apologies for the delay. I still cannot reproduce it. When I type, the justified text causes the jump, however, the word goes with it. In your screenshots, I can see your cursor seems to jump away from its initial insertion point. Can you review the video I've attached and tell me if I'm doing the right thing? Cursor jump.mp4 How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

Cursor jump.mp4 5.94 MB · 0 downloads Hi Chris, you could not reproduce it because the paragraph is separated in Hungarian, and the Hungarian language is not available on your system; or there is a Hungarian language, but the Hungarian language package of Libre Office, which I use, is not installed. However, the error also occurs in the case of separation settings in other languages, if the program wants to define end-of-line separation points and the paragraph is line-excluded or aligned to the center or right. The error does not occur in a left-aligned paragraph. The cursor jumps to the top one or two lines. Affinity Publisher 2 2023-06-26 17-07-43.mp4 As time passed, I observed the error even more closely, and it seems that it occurs in two lines of the top paragraph of a page or frame, or if the paragraph flows from the previous page, in the top one line. Affinity Publisher 2 2023-06-26 17-21-54.mp4 I look forward to the solution, thanks.
