Hi, Transitioning from Adobe to Affinity 2.1.0. Trying to open multiple artboard .eps files created in Adobe, is there a trick to this? When opening a multi artboard file, only the first artboard appears, and additionally no artwork that was not directly on an an artboard is accessible. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @RioCielo and welcome to the forum.

It's not a bug in the Affinity apps.

In order not to have to repeat myself, I'll link to an answer of mine.

I created a three artboard file in AI and exported to eps, Affinity Designer imported all three artboards merged as one, with all the objects that sat wholly on each artboard, Affinity even brought in the objects that were partially on an artboard and also not on an artboard at all.

This is how the file is laid out in AI

This is how Affinity Designer brought the file in...

Could you upload your eps for us to look at?

Also tried additional file type such as Ai and PDF, both import the same, with the off artboard object being lost and a partial import of the square, weirdly the circle that spans two artboards get imported in whole and is duplicated for each of the spanned artboards. If I try to span artboards with the square it still gets cropped.

SVG export will give you an SVG file for each artboard with each shape intact but the off-artboard shape is lost.

Hi @RioCielo and welcome to the forums,

An encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file describes only a single page, so Designer won't open multiple EPS files as Multiple Artboards, you should export your file to a pdf instead which will then open everything as multiple Artboards in Designer.

Thank you to the H-man from the Galaxy Far Far Away. Opening as a PDF did enable all artboards to be viewed and edited. Some images have gone missing (those not previously sitting on an artboard), but your suggestion has saved a lot of time. Many thanks.

Hi @RioCielo,

That's no problem at all, I'm glad you have a solution that works for you, albeit with a few missing images though hopefully, you can recover those as well... :)
