Still the same amazing, unbelievable, outstanding (I guess outstanding is the best word for this) ......  boot or startup time for Affinity Designer 2.

What do other app builders make here so much better, so special, so secret, so .. what ever,  ...... that their apps can start in, hmmm ........  lets say 3 seconds (pixelmator pro), or ......   4 seconds (photomator), .......   or 2 seconds (OBS Studio), .......   or 1,5 seconds (Forklift 3 and 4 beta), .......

Often you are in a hurry in your working process, and then you have to wait 20 seconds for nothing? If I take my hourly rate, I loose about 0,70 EUR on each start of Designer 2, I guess Photo is not better. That is 182,- EUR in a year. if I work 5 days a week  .......

What is wrong with you, why do´nt you improve that? It is not apples fault, cause other apps can do it! Why can´t "you" do it?

And these times are not on a old Mac, it is an M1 Mini with 16 GB ram.

Why can´t you do it?

My posts focus on technical aspects and leave out most of social grease like „maybe“, „in my opinion“, „I might be wrong“ etc. just add copy/paste all these softeners from this signature to make reading more comfortable for you. Otherwise I’m a fine person which respects you and everyone and wants to be respected.

Even the V1 binary apps, here stripped down to just the hosts systems binary architecture (thus smaller in size as usually), still have their size ...

... and even the main app startup executable isn't that big sized at all ...

apps_size2.jpg.f2297ce26ac1602298af03d3cc5ba336.jpg

... loading all other related stuff and systems fonts check during startup etc. all takes some/it's time. - Though the apps startup impressions on older Win systems is IMO even worser here than for MacOS, at least for me and on hardware I tested this once. On one older Win system a version 2 (not v1) startup took really forever (... some >= 15 Mississippis), in contrast to that the startup on MacOS was still half way moderate (...didn't had the time to go to the coffee machine).

But it may also highly depend on how damned fast some hardware, I/O wise is at all, so SSD and RAM speeds & caches etc. may all have some amount of impact here.
