Hi

I am wanting to add a "keyline" border to some images for pdi competitions. I have found videos that show resizing canvas & adding a layer, putting that below "background" layer & adding colour so not transparent. So far, so good. However, if I decide that the border I've added is too wide, is there an easy way of adjusting the size?

If I use the move tool to select the layer, then the transform options are available, but I don't seem to be able to select the centre anchor to change all sides equally & if I ctrl & use mouse to change size, I then get a transparent bit around the edge.

I was hoping that there would be a really easy way of adding a border & then changing the size of it. I'm sure (hoping) there is, but at the moment, it's looking like if I don't like what I've created I've got to delete the whole layer & start again, which seems very tedious.

Thanks

Hello, there different ways to create borders and some of those offer more and others less flexibility for changings. - You best show some screenshots (with visiable layer and transform panels) of how you've tried to setup your border here. So people can better reproduce what you did so far and help.

For example a simple way of creating borders is shown here ...

... and on the forum there are other threads showing how to apply borders to images (you have to search after those topics via Google or the forum search facility).

Thanks. I've been watching the video on the link you put. Think I've got it, but how to make sure the border is then equal thickness all round & how to then adjust the width of it. It's quite hard to judge just using the mouse

Many thanks

If you have/got the image center point (either via the help of snapping, rulers, or center point show up ... etc.) use the Transform panel and click on the center anchor point before altering w/h values etc.

Also if it's just for a keyline border, you can add that on top of the image via an unfilled rectangle with some given stroke size & color.

Further you may want to take a look at the following help topics which also tell which mouse & keyboard shortcuts etc. do have an/what impact on how things will be resized ... etc.

Or do a more exact forum & web search for what you are after, in order to get matching help results ...
