Freehand selection tool defaults to add mode

I find the add selection mode more useful than starting a new selection anytime you use the freehand selection tool, specially if there is no shortcut to change to add selection mode (that I could find). Providing a way to customize the default behaviour of any tool would be fantastic. What do you think?

I can’t check right now, but I think you should find that you can add to the current selection by holding down the Shift key while you draw another selection outline.

The available shortcuts (or modifier keys) should be shown in the Status Bar at the bottom of the application window.

I tried all possible combos, including CTRL+ALT without any success. Now you mentioned that (I didn't look the bottom line in the UI before) I tried several times and it looks like it works sometimes , sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the cursor changes showing a + sign and works as expected, but sometimes + doesn't show up when using the same combo, and other times, + is showing but the selected area is ignored, as in the recorded video.

As I'm going deeper on this, it's getting clear there is also a problem with Affinity refreshing the canvas. It's not that the selection is ignored, but the screen not being updated. I attach another video showing this. It looks like 2 different problems here. I have already got problems with Affinity not refreshing the screen unless I zoom in or out, and this is showing up also with the selection.

Sorry for the supersized videos, I don't know how reduce their size. This is happening here almost always, but not only, after moving the current selection and then dragging a new one. Anyway, the initial topic is now irrelevant, as there is a shortcut/combo to add to selection. It's just that the system/app is not working right. But my idea of customizable default behaviours for any tool might be of interest, kind of the default objects introduced in v2.1.
