thelastcatbender Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Hi there, I'm new to Affinity Designer, using it on iPad. I was trying to figure out how to edit the canvas/artboard size, and started tapping things around the interface in an attempt to look around. I clicked the button in the top-left corner (screenshot attached) and suddenly all of my work is gone. After some research to figure out what the button is for, it looks like it's what you're supposed to click in order to save the file, which makes this even more enraging. Is there any possibility of getting my work back? I'm on the free trial and was considering purchasing, but I definitely won't if I have to risk losing all my work every time I go to save a file. Thanks for any help you can provide. - Morgan Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Clicking that button would return you to the application's Home Screen, where you should find the document you were working on in the upper-left corner of the Live Docs view. You should then be able to click on it to resume work. From your report, I presume that you do not find your document there? If so, that's unfortunate. Did you get back to the Home Screen when clicking that button, or did the application crash and disappear completely? If it crashed, you might have a crash report you could upload to help Serif figure out the problem: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. thelastcatbender Posted May 31, 2023 Author Posted May 31, 2023 Thank you Walt! The application didn't crash; it did take me back to the Home Screen, where there was only one file option, which was a version of the file from toward the very beginning of when I started working on things yesterday. It's like the only version of the file it had was this extremely old one, and nothing had been autosaved from that point forward. Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Unusual, and unfortunate. I'm not sure there's anything you can do at this point. Sorry. thelastcatbender Posted May 31, 2023 Author Posted May 31, 2023 Ah well... I will consider it practice, lol. At least it should take me half as long to redo now that I know my way around the tools better. I've been spoiled by Procreate's autosave, and didn't think to figure it out/test it sooner in Affinity. Lesson learned. walt.farrell 1 Quote
