80sTherapy Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Hello, I have this rough tree outline and want to make sure each treetop is symmetrical. Is there a way to snap the nodes to get perfect angles? Thanks. Quote
GarryP Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 The best answer probably depends on precisely what you mean by “symmetrical” (symmetrical to what, and not symmetrical to what?) and precisely what you mean by “perfect angles” (perfect in what way?). If you can give us more details – maybe with an annotated visual example – about what you want to do then someone will probably have an answer for you. Quote
80sTherapy Posted May 31, 2023 Author Posted May 31, 2023 I mean so that the top isn't slanted to the left or to the right (without necessarily being equilateral). I'm not sure what the exact term is for this. Quote
Alfred Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Start by drawing the left-hand half or the right-hand half. Duplicate the shape, flip the duplicate horizontally, and then align the two copies so that they sit side by side. Select both shapes and use the Boolean ‘Add’ command to create a single shape. GarryP Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 An alternative to Alfred’s method could be to use Triangle shapes to create the trees, then clip them within a shape, then make a Symbol out of the result, duplicating and flipping another symbol instance to get the reverse ‘side’ – see attached video and document. 2023-05-31 13-40-03.mp4 symmetrical-trees.afdesign Quote
