japr1949
I have been using Affinity Photo since it came out in beta form. Currently I am using the purchased 1.4.1version. Now that I have afphoto files I notice that if I try to open a file directly by double clicking it I get a pop-up message that states I need a purchased version of Affinity Photo and then my computer automatically tries to engage the App store. These files were all saved while using version 1.4.1 so how do I get rid of the 'beta' tag or whatever is causing the problem? If I open the file through the open Affinity Photo app, then there is no problem.
R C-R
Just guessing, but you probably still have an out-of-date beta version of AP on your Mac. If so, delete that & double-clicking on an AP file should open in the retail version. japr1949
You were right in that I still had the beta version in Applications. So I did an uninstall and removed it. Now all the afphoto files state that "Affinity Photo' cannot be opened. Since I can still access the files from the opened app, I will try sometime to save new afphoto files and see what that does now that the beta version is gone. Thank you for your response. Uuiop
Hi Japr1949. The latest Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer betas are available here: > https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/32-affinity-beta-support/ < (current versions are 1.4.2 beta 3). In general terms: betas are not available on the App store, only the non-beta upgrades. Beta app versions will "expire" but saved beta files can always be opened by newer betas downloaded as above or later App store versions. Betas require the appropriate non-beta App store version to run. The upgrade from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 is free from the App store - Thank you Affinity!
