IMO it should be just rectangle.

I think Serif wants us to be only creative in finding workarounds to use their tools.

I have an affinity with Jumping through hoops and Finding work-a-roundabouts, I'm getting dizzy from all that spinning before my eyes.

I believe I've reported this previously but I can't find the thread right now.

In Affinity, there is an underlying difference between a rectangle and a rounded rectangle. If you change the corner radius for a rectangle it becomes a rounded rectangle and can never go back. Even if you change a rounded rectangle to a corner radius of 0, it will still be a rounded rectangle. I'm unsure of the point of this.

There's a similar "issue" with the ellipse, donut and pie tools. You could just have the ellipse and convert it to one of the others. I'm not sure if there are technical reasons for having several different shapes, or if it's just for convenience for people who regularly use one version.

To be honest, I really don't see that having a larger choice of shapes matters! (There are other shapes that I'd like to be added!) I'm always a bit wary when people say something should be removed, because they don't use it, or they don't see the point in having it. Maybe other people do need it! You can just ignore it, or customise the tools, if it's a problem for you!

But it's the lack of consistency that's the issue.

There's no rounded triangle or a rounded polygon so why is there a rounded rectangle quickshape when it is just a rectangle.

Serif makes certain things more convenient to find and in other areas they are lacking options.

I am not asking them to remove any of the shapes, just that the UI should be consistant :)

It's what Return seemed to be asking for! (i.e. get rid of the rounded rectangle shape.)

I'm not sure why you say the UI is inconsistent. There is a "rectangle" shape, and a "rounded rectangle" shape. You have two shapes (ignoring the fact that some people may say you don't need both), the name of each is displayed in the same way when selected with the move tool!

EDIT: Having had another look, I assume you're referring to the name changing when you change a rectangle to a rounded rectangle and vice versa. The ellipse does the same thing when you convert it to a pie or donut. (Personally, I'd be quite happy if the displayed name stayed as the original name, rather than changing, but I don't see any actual inconsistency.)

It happens when the tool is changed while having the rectangle object selected, the "Move Tool" will say Rounded Rectangle and the "Rectangle Tool" will say Rectangle

Yes, finally got it! There is also a difference with the pie and donut (pie/donut) names in the context toolbar, depending on whether you have the shape or move tools selected. I have no idea why, but I suspect it's "by design" for some reason!
