MayaK Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 How can I create a visual effects style for text that will not change the typographic elements in existing text? I successfully created several styles using Add style from selection, but it also uses the typographic settings (font, size, etc). Do I need to create the style using a non-text element? Quote

Have you tried creating the style when no text object is selected? Also, what specifically do you mean by "visual effects style"? In Affinity Designer, having multiple strokes on a non text object to create a style doesn't not transfer to the text, you have to convert the text to curves first in order to get the full style. Keeping the text as text will get you one stroke and it will be the stroke that is selected in the appearance panel at the time of "Add style from selection..." I could be wrong but I thought the OP was asking about Text Styles. If so, converting to curves would not be appropriate..... I took the "visual style effects" to mean styles, such as stroke, fill, and fx, as in "visual", in addition to those attributes the style will adopt the font face and overwrite the font face when the style is applied to a given word or letter, so I'm pretty confident they meant that over text styles To me, text styles are predominantly about the layout of text.
