LionelD
I’m guessing somewhat, but based on lots of experience printing photos from Photoshop I’d say you have encountered a very common issue. You are most likely comparing what your photo looks like on your display, and the print your printer delivered. You don’t say anything about color management. If you do not know what that is, you need help from someone who truly knows the subject. In the meanwhile here is a practical suggestion. Because it is common for printed graphics to appear darker than the display even with good color management, it is common to lighten the image immediately prior to, and expressly for, printing. A technique I use is to add a 50% gray layer in overlay blend mode immediately above your image, and adjust the grayness of that layer - paler (less than 50%) will make your image appear lighter, darker (more than 50%) will make your image appear darker. You will need to experiment with several prints at different level of gray in that additional layer. Because this technique uses a separate gray layer, it is non-destructive, and you can experiment with the lightness/darkness endlessly. You also do not say anything about your computing equipment. If you have an external display, it’s quite likely it is too bright. I was surprised at the amount I had to dim my external display when calibrating it. Integrated displays (think devices like the iPad) also have this problem, but to a lesser degree, but I don’t think there’s any guarantee. Proceed with caution.. If this sounds too intimidating, try asking about among local photographers you might know. @Dan C Not sure this should be in this forum, can you adjust as necessary please. It is advisable to use a meaningful thread name - not only is it in line with the forum rules, but most importantly it can "attract" users who can then help you with your problem.
