What RAW images are you having trouble with, I am noticing my Canon CR2 raw images in Apple Photos are not opening in develop mode but others including Nikon raw open ok.

However the old work around still works,
1. Make sure the image has not been edited in Apple Photos by selecting edit in Apple Photos and if presented with “Revert’ then revert it back to the original image.
2. Use the IOS Shortcut ‘Open in Photo V2’ direct from the Photo share interface from Apple Photos.

I have recorded many examples of how IOS Shortcuts work in the forums if you are unsure how to create one or you can download mine from here.

@Pbernardon: I'd still like to figure out why, for example, the RAW file you shared earlier works properly on my iPad, but doesn't work for you. I wonder if it's possible that it's a file you had edited in Photos, and if that might make the difference. Can you do as @Paul Mudditt suggested above and check whether it was previously edited in Photo?

If it was, you might try his suggestion of using Revert, and then seeing if it will Open properly for you directly from Affinity Photo 2.1.

I know you weren’t responding to myself but I have the same problem. None of the pics have had any editing done in photos app, freshly added from the camera. Could it be to do with the age of the iPad? Mine is a 2nd gen iPad Pro 12.9

its also files from an OM1. I see another person reporting it on Facebook and they’re also an Olympus user.

I'm having exactly the same issue as described here. After update to 2.1.0 the Photo stopped opening raw files in develop mode. The workaround with shortcuts works for camera pictures, but for DJI drones that export RAW + JPEG does not work.

I'm on Ipad Pro 10.5 2017 and iPados 16.5

Serif did reply to me on Facebook saying that they’d now had a few similar responses and were looking into it. I’ve re-downloaded v1 in the meantime as shooting loads of shows at the minute and don’t want a backlog.I’m now also having a problem loading the pics to my Smugmug account since this update. The files are reducing to about a quarter of the stated size - Smugmug has had no changes and checked it there end and say it’s either serif or iOS

Thanks for a reply! Great to hear that Serif is looking into it, as for now the only alternative is switching back to V1, since we cannot downgrade to 2.0 version.

Paul’s shortcut does not work for me how strange

Can you upload an example raw that fails?. Also can you upload a screen record of it failing ?

I also have unedited JPEG+RAW files from a Fujifilm camera and can only use/see JPEGs. The Shortcut posted above doesn't work for me.

As far as I can tell, Apple have quietly downgraded RAW support in the past year or so (at least on my iPad Air) and I think this is behind the problem.

I'm pretty sure I used to be able to share a RAW file to Macbook using Airdrop. They have an option to send the original data in the share dialog, but this does nothing and will only send the JPEG. In fact, the only way I can actually access the RAW files (from iPad) is by syncing the photo roll to a Macbook using a cable, and then exporting from MacOS Photos, which is quite a lot of faff for our Apple wonder-technology.
