pomme27 Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 This likely is a trivial question, but here goes: Sometimes when I open an .afdesign document in Affinity 2, the message "Missing Font: KoHo" appears. I do not know if this is an Affinity message or a macOS message. If I look in the Mac Font Book app, I do see a font named KoHo, but it is grayed out, which implies to me that perhaps it was once installed but no longer is. The funny thing is, I have never used this font in my Affinity designs. So I'm not sure why Affinity (or macOS) is flagging the fact that this font is missing when I open an .afdesign file. Any thoughts on this? Quote
Staff Callum Posted May 18, 2023 Staff Posted May 18, 2023 Hi Pomme27, The only time this message occurs is when a document is opened that contains a font that is now missing which in this case is KoHo. I would imagine this font must be applied to text somewhere within your document if this message is occurring. If you have recently updated your Mac OS then its possible this font is no longer supported by Ventura as they recently dropped support for type one fonts. To prevent this message you would need to either reinstall the font or remove the font from your document. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

FWIW, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213266 lists 12 'version 1' KoHo typefaces that supposedly are installed with Ventura, so if it is greyed out in Font Book it might be because it is a system font, not because it is not installed. Also, a web search on "koho font" gets lots of hits, including https://fonts.google.com/specimen/KoHo so it may be possible to download & install that family & use it, but it may conflict with the one installed with Ventura. Yep, export the file as an svg then look at that with a text editor and try to find the font kenmcd 1 Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/10
kenmcd Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 The KoHo fonts are in the "Installed or downloadable fonts" section of the Ventura fonts list. It is one of the "downloadable" font families (which is why it is grayed-out). So it is not automatically installed; it must be downloaded (in Font Book). It is supplied as one TTC file (KoHo.ttc) with all 12 styles inside. Or you can install the versions from Google Fonts which are 12 separate TTF files. It is odd that it is in your document. Sometimes default fonts for interfaces or apps can creep into docs. KoHo is for Latin and Thai. @David in Яuislip's export-to-SVG idea sounds like the best way to find it. Quote

pomme27 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Found it! I checked all the text within my design and I was certain there was no KoHo font in use anywhere. But then I found it attached to what I thought was a star-shaped object. Not sure how I managed to link KoHo to that object. Thanks for all your responses. Really appreciate it. Your advice helped me to narrow it down. Test.afdesign.zip Quote
