s15 Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Hi All Having issues with saving as a PDF today. From previous experience, it's usually an anomaly in a hyperlink (i create e-magazines), but i have painstakingly gone through ALL of them - 4 times now - and can't see any of the usual issues (eg spaces either side etc) ... so in desperation to get it to the editor for proof reading i unticked hyperlinks in the pdf export - and it's still getting 3/4 of the way through then saying ERROR saving! Agh please help the editor is desperate for this today!! On as aside, could I make a suggestion that hyperlinks with issues get highlighted, sometimes I have documents with hundreds of pages and as many hyperlinks, it's so time consuming to manually check them all, even via the hyperlinks tab (ps if there is already a short cut to direct you straight to it please enlighten me) thank you :0) Quote
walt.farrell Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 There are a couple of diagnostic approaches that may help, @s15: A kind of binary search, where you try to export the first half of the pages separately from the second half. If one export works, and one fails, you have isolated the issue to the set that failed. You then perform the same set of exports using that set of pages (first half of the set that failed, then second half) and fairly quickly you should get to the page(s) that have the problems. You can then examine them more closely. or Generate a log of the PDF export process, and examine it for error messages: s15 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. s15 Posted May 31, 2023 Author Posted May 31, 2023 Hi again How do I enable PDF logging? Ive opened the same file today, no alterations since I got it to finally succesfully export as a PDF, but needed to export at a lower res - it's throwing up the same errors again arghhhh!! I've tried splitting the file into two halves to work out where the issue lies but no success. Quote

The above linked FAQ provides steps for both Windows and macOS - once enabled please try exporting the PDF and wait for the error message to show, at which point the PDFlib.txt file will be generated, which can be uploaded here for me to investigate further Quote
