We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer 2, version 2.1.0

This build is available as a (sandboxed) MSIX application installer and as an (unsandboxed) MSI/EXE traditional installer.
Please see
this FAQ thread for instructions on how to access the unsandboxed MSI/EXE version.

The changes in Affinity Designer 2 for Windows 2.1.0 (those made since the last release Affinity Designer 2 for Windows 2.0.4are listed in this FAQ forum post:

UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (which is free for all V2 users)

The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Designer ).

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store — The Windows builds only automatically checks once per day and offers any available update. In the Help menu there is a manual "Check for Updates". The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (those installers are NOT for customers who made Microsoft Store purchases).

If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store — Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

I use the msi (exe) version of the installer. In Photo i Designer 2.0.4 I don't get information about new version availability when I start the application

It doesn't even come up when I select Check for update in the Help menu. The message "No update available" appears.

I'm still not seeing the update pop-up in Designer, but I do in Photo and Publisher on Windows.

I'm using the MSIX version (the only version that was available when 2.0 launched).

For what is worth, all three of mine updated this morning, a couple of hours ago.

What does Help > Check for Updates show?

Windows only automatically checks once per day. In the Help menu there is a manual check. I have now edited the above instructions to reflect this.

Just seen your email, had been working with pub, and photo all day, did not come up to install on ether, but open designer install prompt appeared, so installed fine and quick, went back to photo checked for update then installed, same with pub. first time I have had to actually check for an update but the installation on all three was great. Thanks!

I think the check is made only at the start-up so if you started up before the updates were available you wouldn't see the notice.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Only at startup of the application, and only once per day.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am still working with version 1 and I have tried version 2, but it is not compatible with pCloud. I would like to try version 2.1 again and see if Affinity has fixed this issues before I spend money in upgrading to the latest version. The problem is that my trial has expired from the test with version 2.0. Apparently the 30 days trial was not reset, meaning that I am not able to try it again and see if it is useable for me.
Is there a way to reset the trial date?
