Jber Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 I am using 8 1/2 x 11 paper, it's actually an fairly expensive film that I'm printing on. When I print my work, which is on an artboard, I have the artboard set to 5x5 inch. Inside the print dialog box, there seems to be no way to "move" the design around in the little window. The design sits firmly in the middle of the 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper and to save film, I would like to be able to move the design inside the print dialog to show the printer where on the paper to actually print the design. It must be letter or legal size paper as the film only comes in those sizes and to print an item that is 5x5 inches in the middle of the page is to costly due to the wasted film. Is it even possible to move the design around on the print dialog's view of the page? I'm very new to Affinity and trying really hard to move away from Illustrator but Illustrator has no problem allowing me to choose where on the page I would like the image to print so that I don't waste the film. I have included a picture of the print dialog. As shown, the design is sitting in the middle of the page whereas I want to move it to the upper left corner. Thanks for any help! Quote
thomaso Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Hi Jber, Welcome to the Affinity Forums! The print dialog + its available print options depend on the printer hardware + its installed driver. Thus this dialog window may appear different to different users. 3 hours ago, Jber said: I have the artboard set to 5x5 inch. Not sure if this means "I have set the artboard to the size of the object I want to print", so, just in case: If wanted you can choose to print a layer selection only. This determines the output size, independent from the layout page / artboard size. Here for instance the two selected layers: To position your print on the sheet you choose the N-Up option and just leave its nubers at 1 per row and column. For an offset you also can set negative values. Here for instance to move the print objects up and crop the yellow cloud. An offset of 0 + 0 positions the print item in the upper left corner. Possibly you might need to consider a printer's margin. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
