Hi guys, is there any way to configure Affinity's pen drawing tool to work this way by switching from straight line to curve with a double click, without having to go to the bar and activate it?

In that other program I use only two clicks to switch from curves to lines, I wanted to do the same in affinity switching from smart mode to pen mode or something like that , thank you!

Hi @Niicki and welcome to the forums,

On Mac, with the Pen tool in Pen Mode click and drag to create curved lines then hold down the Ctrl key when you want straight lines...

See statusbar at the bottom of the screen.

Click+RightMouse means here on windows pressing the leftmousebutton and the rightmousebutton at the same time and click to get a straight line.
This is a strange approach and has to do with the lack of modifier buttons available on windows, 3 vs 4 on mac.

I think Serif wants us to be only creative in finding workarounds to use their tools.

I have an affinity with Jumping through Hoops and over Humps.
Dealing with Speedbumps and finding Work-A-Roundabouts.
I'm getting dizzy from all that spinning and jumping.

Thanks for the answer @Return , it seems to work that way, now I will try to change this shortcut is it possible? thanks again

This shortcut is hardcoded and not changeable unfortunately.
You can however instead of dragging the pen across the canvas click at the point if destination to get a straight line between last node and clicked point of destination.
In addition with this, holding the shift key will make straight lines at horizontal/vertical/diagonal angles.
