I’ve been a V1 user since last June have never experienced any issues using the software on my iPad. Tonight I attempted to do an HDR merge and the result is distorted. I deleted and reinstalled the app then tried the merge process again with the same result.

Any solutions you can offer would be great. I have no idea where to begin.

Welcome to the forums !

Never personally seen that problem before, if possible can you upload your source files and we can check if it is working OK on V1, V2 and V2.1 beta.

Have you already tried closing all open apps and doing a Forced Restart of your iPad which can cure many ‘strange’ behaviours on the iPad.

Thanks for the response Paul.

I dumped all of the background apps, forced the restart on the iPad and tried again. Unfortunately the Affinity results are the same.

in order to determine if the problem is isolated to the single batch of photographs from yesterday I checked prior batches on the same SD card. The problem is consistent there as well. To eliminate the possibility that it might be the SD card itself, I tried another card and got the same result. This distortion issue is also present when I open a single photo from either of the cards.

I’ve recently updated my iOS to 16.4

I’ve attached the five source photographs for your reference below.

I have tried in V1, V2 and V2.1 beta and the results are good, I do not see any of the banding you show. I attach a screen recording of the HDR merge on my iPad. Perhaps you can also perform a screen recording of your workflow and upload it.

Are you up to date on iPadOS version?

What iPad model do you have?

Alternatively have you tried downloading the V2.0 30 day demo to try it in V2?

Okay, I’ve attached the workload recording.

When I get home later I’ll try the other iPad to see if it’s any different. I’m wondering if it’s the iOS update causing this. Are you running 16.4.1(a)?

I’ll download the free V2 trial and give that a shot too.

I suspect it is the drag and drop method you are using which results in a different image being loaded compared to loading directly like I do. Can you try using the cloud import icon instead of the files app to load the images to see if that makes a difference. If it is not that it could be the iPadOS version, I am using 16.5 beta.

Hi @Aubrey Dempsey welcome to the forums,

I've been able to replicate your issue with the colour banding in V1, V2 and the 2.1 Beta apps, it looks like the issue is potentially specific to the iOS 16.4.1 update as i've only been able to replicate the issue on .DNG files on this update so far. This also affects other merging operations, including HDR, Focus and Stacking. I've now logged this with the developers for further investigation.

Notably the issue appears to potentially be specific to DNG files from DJI Mavic Drones as I have been dealing with a separate user with a set of .DNGS from the Mavic Pro 2 that results in the same problem.

The issue appears to occur independently of how the images are being loaded in to the stack/merge interface. I've noted on the logged issue that you have not been able to replicate on 16.5, thanks for looking into this Paul.
