Hello

I am having an issue with affinity photo, and if someone has a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I am trying to invert a life filter. I want to invert a gaussian blur, then paint back in the blur so I can blur the edge at my desired locations. However, when I invert the gaussian blur, it makes the entire layer opaque and I cannot do anything with it. in the layers panel you can see I made the gaussian blur a child of the mask, wanting to blur the edge of the mask, then the entire layer becomes black after i invert it, obscuring the original image Has anyone ever has this issue as well?

I am sorry as I am not the best with affinity photo, still learning This is Affinity Photo V2, latest build I believe

That's a known bug in 2.0.x - the built-in mask of the live filter is wrongly masking the mask in which the filter is nested in addition to correctly masking the filter. You can work around the bug by giving the live filter another mask instead of using its built-in mask. The bug is fixed in the current 2.1 beta.

How do i give it another mask?

You could use the mask button at bottom of Layers panel to add a new Mask or Empty Mask to the document and then drag and drop it on the thumbnail of the filter.
