Petar Petrenko Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Hi, Please, allow us to choose fonts in text styles by entering their names manually, not only by scrolling the font list. If we could get font preview -- even better. GarryP Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Can you give a bit more detail about what you mean? Specifically, where are you wanting to do this? Can you show us the panel/dialog and point us to the field where you are choosing the font? Quote
Petar Petrenko Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 When you open these lists, you can't enter the name of the font. You can choose it only by scroling. GarryP Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 On Windows we can already do that, or at least I can, up to a point. You type the first letters of the font name into the field (they aren’t shown on-screen) and the software searches for those letters. You need to type the letters quickly though; if you wait a second or so the software will think you are starting a new search. And it doesn’t always work every time, but I might be doing it wrong. My attached video show me searching for Transport, Raleway, GoBold and Arial. (You need to look carefully as the dark UI mode doesn’t show the highlight very well.) 2023-05-02 10-03-10.mp4 Quote
Petar Petrenko Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 I expected the same functionality like here: Quote All the latest releases of Designer, Photo and Publisher (retail and beta) on MacOS and Windows. 15” Dell Inspiron 7559 i7 ● Windows 10 x64 Pro ● Intel Core i7-6700HQ (3.50 GHz, 6M) ● 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600 MHz (8GBx2) ● NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 ● 500 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD ● UHD (3840 x 2160) Truelife LED - Backlit Touch Display 32” LG 32UN650-W display ● 3840 x 2160 UHD, IPS, HDR10 ● Color Gamut: DCI-P3 95%, Color Calibrated ● 2 x HDMI, 1 x DisplayPort 13.3” MacBook Pro (2017) ● Ventura 13.6 ● Intel Core i7 (3.50 GHz Dual Core) ● 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 ● Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB ● 500 GB SSD ● Retina Display (3360 x 2100)
GarryP Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I think they do a similar thing but in slightly different ways (except that the Context Toolbar is without the “PDF”, “Web” and “Missing” groups of the Edit Text Style dialog). Maybe it might be nice to be able to choose the font settings in the same way in both places but I don’t know if that would ‘break’ anything. Either way, I agree that it might be nice if the Edit Text Style dialog were able to show the ‘search input’ for font names like it does on the Context Toolbar, and that we can search by something other than the first characters, as we can in the Context Toolbar.
