This help page could use a review.

  1. The screenshot of a text frame shows v1 size handles instead of v2.
    image.png.1b92023b94be4f5edc7c2a5dcf777dce.png
  2. The screenshot is missing the frame link and content scaling icons.
  3. There is no explanation of scaling the text in the frame by dragging the content scaling icon.
  4. The hollow red triangle icon shown should be a solid red triangle.
    image.png.c2c6fafd453efee0c41e6d6b56f59470.png
  5. The solid red circle icon shown should be a hollow red circle.

So showing it hollow is right, at least for Windows. However, the wording is odd. The "Story" certainly has overflowing text, but this frame is not necessarily "linked to a frame that has overflowing text".

Is the frame linked or unlinked? It's different if it's linked. It's a little odd as I'll show below because now that you point this out I notice that the table is actually missing one of the icons, too. Here's what it is now:

Icon Description
Unlinked frame The frame is unlinked.
Linked frame The frame is linked.
Linked overflowing text The frame is linked to a frame that has overflowing text.
Invisible overflowing text There is hidden overflowing text in the frame.
Visible overflowing text The overflowing text in the frame is visible.
Deselected overflowing text The text in the deselected text frame is overflowing.

And here's what it should be - the three bolded rows are new or changed.

Icon Description
Unlinked frame The frame is unlinked.
Linked frame The frame is linked.
Linked overflowing text The frame has overflowing text.
image.png.aed0c178a9cf5812923e824c81e651ee.png The frame is linked to a frame that has overflowing text.
Invisible overflowing text There is hidden overflowing text in the frame.
Visible overflowing text The overflowing text in the frame is visible.
image.png.bb39575f289bdf1eeb2f82c84749f122.png The text in the deselected text frame is overflowing.

Here's how it looks on macOS. I didn't bother showing the 2 'eye' icons because those are working as expected.

Unlinked frame, no overset text - both triangles are hollow blue

Unlinked frame, overset text - both triangles are hollow red

Unlinked frame, overset text, deselected - both circles are hollow

Linked frame, no overset text - the triangle is solid blue in the direction(s) of the link

Linked frame, overset text - the triangle is solid red except for the 'previous' icon in the first frame and the 'next' icon in the last frame - this doesn't make much sense to me. I'm showing 3 examples so you can see the first, middle, and last frames selected.

Linked frame, overset text, deselected - all circles are hollow

Thanks @MikeTO, i've just logged this with the Documentation team :)

Since the page hasn't been updated yet I thought I'd pass this along. There are two more states for this icon that aren't documented.

Textframe-overflowinvisibleblue.png.3241181f6d789eff332fe247d2c76fae.png There is hidden overflowing whitespace in the frame

Textframe-overflowvisibleblue.png.b67ef78a5f220646f39c2f46559d3bab.pngThere is visible overflowing whitespace in the frame
