Level does not always work

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what you mean by diagram.

Some possibilities: Histogram, Thumbnail, perhaps something else?

A screenshot of the application window might help.

I have the same issue actual using 2.04. But this issue is realy old. I think, that I have this issue since I've bought Affinity photo 3 Years ago. Sometimes, not only at complex files, the levels adjustment shows no curve. I've been able to do all adjustments, but I cant see the curve in the adjustment.

Everytime I had this issue the histogram view in the Studio doesn't work too. The I can do my adjustments and in the histogram doesn't change anything. The workaround for me is to save the picture as .afphoto and it works after the storage process.

I agree and experienced all you said. One reason why I have no sample files is that after saving it the problem disappears...

Curious as to what this is. Grouped Level and Curves with a mask? I cannot seem to get something like this appearing.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

This „histogram freezing“ issue occurs mostly after lengthy edit session.

In the link you find a case where i needed 4 minutes of editing before the issue started, I was so frustrated that i simply recorded everything to have evidence just in case.

Similar freezing/delayed or no longer showing up issues where spotted in levels / curves adjustments and histogram on every single platform (Win, Mac, iPad) in all versions. As my report was in V1 times, there was no explicit „solved“ statement.

During one of the discussions a mod stated that „histogram“ is a „low priority process“, meaning it will be only updated if no other calculation/rendering activities in Photo are active. In 2.0 the issue seems less frequent.

I can confirm that the problem occurs more often and faster when you sit longer on an edit or edit several RAW images in a row. I think it's due to a memory leak, which I've also done a case on, because Photo becomes sluggish with use time, so that between RAW developments Photo has to be restarted again and again to work smoothly.
I have attached a video that shows the histogram, which does not change despite changes, here to the gamma in the level adjustment. Unfortunately, the level adjustment is not recorded in the video. This is open at this time and shows no histogram.
My CPU (I7 1165G7) utilization is somewhere around 30% according to Task Manager and the 16GB memory is around 65%, of which Photo uses around 3.5GB as a top consumer.
