Mac OS X Monterey 12.6.3 Affinity Designer 2.0.4

This is so annoying. I have to set the same color fill again and again each time I draw a new form with the pen tool. I mean thats one of the most basic functions, that when I change something, fill or brush or line, the next thing I draw continues with the last setting I used. It is LOGIC or not?

Why does this not work anymore?

I can even hit the top button for overtaking the actual setting as a standard and STILL the next thing comes up empty.

Come on Affinity!

The keyword being "empty" I am guessing that you have the Use Fill checkbox (in the Context Toolbar) unchecked.

Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

You are right. There is indeed a checkbox i never saw - AND NO ONE NEEDS. Its working after I activated it. Thanks!

But this is exactly what I am always talking about - unnecessarily complicating things! There is a fill and empty function in the color palette where it belongs. This second and independent one is only good for confusions. So it is still a mind bug that needs to be corrected.

Thanks for your report @Thomahawk, this is expected behaviour with the Pen Tool when the Use Fill checkbox has not been enabled - though I certainly understand you may find this to be unnecessary.

I'd recommend posting a Feedback suggestion thread for our dev team, to consider changing this tools behaviour in the future :)

Thanks. I´ll do that.

"Expected behaviour?"
I am creating illustrations since 30 years and can see no reason whatsoever for such "behaviour". But I see a lot of missing functionality in Affinitys software that is missing in order to make them professional tools.

So and again I have the same situation, wanting to use a brush vor the vector pen tool. I set the first path with the brush. Next path I draw: no brush. I do synchronise the selection, still same. "use fill" checkbox checked or unchecked same result.

WHY HAS THIS TO BE SO HARD?

the only why I see to repeat my path settings are copy the last path an move and change it. That is a pain in the a...

I vaguely remember reading that this is "by design".
And as the name says: brushes are apparently meant for the Vector Brush tool.
Has behaved this way since v1.

The Pencil tool supports controller attributes, so essentially you're already using the Solid Pen With Pressure brush here. You can always add more fancy brushes later.

If you need fancy brushes to begin with, then simply use the Brush tool from the start. If you need to sculpt an existing brush stroke, simply switch to the Pencil tool, it's just a keyboard shortcut away.

Ah, but the stroke has a fill! The problem here is that the fill doesn’t have a fill. :)
